A Busy Year at Lemmings HQ!
Cosmic Librarians, Bookworms, Norfolk Broads and Winter Parades
The Year at Lemmings Theatre
What a year it’s been at Lemmings Theatre!
This year has been filled with exciting projects and opportunities for our team. One of our highlights was working with George, our irrepressible bookworm, on his new tour aimed at young audiences and their parents.
We also enjoyed collaborating with Walk The Plank on their Green Spaces, Dark Skies project and with Emergency Exit Arts on their Colchester Christmas parade.
In April, we began building a new cosmic library for George and had the chance to work with Giles Thaxton at Smugglers Cove in North Wales. By May, George began his tour of libraries throughout Essex, using the opportunity to study our environmental impact and create a list of sustainability improvements thanks to Sue Lawther. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a van large enough to hold the library!
In the summer, George took a break from his library tour to visit festivals including Latitude, the Essex Book Festival, and the Barnes Children's Festival.
We also joined John and Liz at Walk the Plank for their show on the Norfolk Broads, with Dave showcasing his dance skills.
As autumn arrived, George's tour came to an end and we turned our attention to local events including our Winter Wanderland and the Manningtree Winter Light Festival in Manningtree. We also had the chance to work with long-time associate Daniel Bernstein when Mandy served as a consultant for the Emergency Exit winter parade in Colchester.
The year ended on a musically festive note with Dave joining Manningtree's first ever samba band under the tutelage of Joe Fleming, whose contract included pizza and beer for all participants. It's been a busy and rewarding year and we're looking forward to what's in store for the next one!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
